BRAG is a Brighton based printmaking collective that specialises in screen-printed gig posters. They are the first to exhibit at the Octopus Gallery, displaying over one hundred art prints & gig posters spanning the groups 4 year in activity. The collective consists of seven members, all who work as professional artists and designers:
Ben Duarri
Jemma Treweek
Dan Johnson
Sam Chivers
Jamie Mcgreggor
Matt Douthwaite
Rhys Wootton
The group have exhibited internationally in America, Europe and all around the UK doing shows with other artists and forging links with the gig poster community. They formed after a gig poster workshop with Firehouse posters based in San Francisco. Being so inspired by the art they decided to form their own collective to start making waves in the underground British poster scene.
In 2007 they had a group trip to study under Chuck Sperry and Ron Donovan of Firehouse Kustom Rock at their studio in San Francisco. During the trip each member created a poster for the Summer Of love festival. An article written by Rhys Wootton is on Creative Review’s blog.
In 2008 they invited Firehouse back to Brighton for a collaborative show displaying over 500 gig posters. During the 3 days nearly 1000 people came to view. Currently the collective are working on new posters and art prints for an exhibition at Pelham House, Lewis during Dec 2010.
